Women in Tech Track Makes History at Liberia IGF 2025
Monrovia, 4 September 2025 – For the first time in its history, the Liberia Internet Governance Forum (Liberia IGF) introduced a dedicated Women in Tech Track, drawing enthusiastic participation and marking a turning point for women’s voices in Liberia’s digital policy space. The new track was widely welcomed by young women participants who noted that it created an inclusive platform for addressing barriers, sharing solutions, and highlighting women-led innovations in ICT. Sessions focused on mentorship, funding opportunities, safe-by-design workplaces, and pathways to leadership.
Veteran and emerging women tech leaders praised the initiative:
- Madam Sangai Moliwulo, a veteran ICT advocate, noted:
“This track is long overdue. Women have been present in Liberia’s tech ecosystem, but too often at the margins. Now we have a formal platform to shape the agenda.” - Ms. Julateh Mulbah, a data scienctist voice, emphasized:
“Young women in Liberia are eager to lead in AI, cybersecurity, and fintech. The Women in Tech Track gives us the legitimacy and visibility to match our ambitions.” - Princess Koffa of Orange Liberia, representing private sector leadership, added:
“Telecom and digital companies must invest in women. This track proves Liberia is ready to accelerate inclusion, and Orange Liberia stands ready to support.”
Globally, Women in Tech Tracks have become features of IGFs in Europe, North Africa, and Asia. By introducing its own version, Liberia has joined the international conversation, signaling its commitment to gender-responsive digital governance. National Convener Peterking Quaye remarked ,“The Women in Tech Track is more than symbolic; it is structural. From this year forward, Liberia IGF will not only talk about inclusion—it will practice it by giving women a permanent space in digital policy dialogues.”
The 2025 edition is now recognized as a landmark IGF for Liberia, positioning the country alongside regional and global peers in ensuring that women’s voices are not just heard but integrated into the Monrovia Commitments 2025. The track’s recommendations will directly feed into national follow-up with the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and Liberia’s contributions to the UN IGF 2025 in Norway.
