About Us
Is a transformed collective effort of internet and digital policy stakeholders in the Liberia to help provide a coordinated mechanism for national multi-stakeholders contributions in the regional and global internet governance, and to support facilitate partnerships, coalitions and dialogues that redefine  Liberia position at regional and global IGF meetings.
Liberia IGF is a national Internet Governance Forum (IGF) initiative devoted to open, inclusive and transparent dialogue on internet governance issues among all stakeholders in Liberia. The Liberia national internet governance forum aims to place Liberia on global Internet Governance (IG) agenda
The Liberia IGF emanated from the need to gather relevant stakeholders from the country in one place to discuss the current state , necessities and emerging internet related issues in Liberia. Many different stakeholder groups in Liberia have been active in their own fields of expertise but there has been a lack of inter stakeholder collaboration and an absence of a bottom up process. Liberia IGF intends to learn from best practices of the global IGF.
Liberia IGF encourage all actors to actively participate in the process.
What We Do

Since 2012, Liberia IGF has convened hundreds of representatives from government, civil society, the private sector, academia and the technical community to tackle the most pressing public policy issues facing the internet. But was re-organized in 2020 under a new leadership and MAG .

 

Whether internet fragmentation, data governance , AI , emerging technologies or content moderation, we provide the opportunity for all members of the Liberian internet community to discuss problems and find common solutions to the most pressing issues in domestic and international digital policy.

The Liberia IGF is a national initiative of the global United-Nations-convened Internet Governance Forum, which holds annual meetings at different locations around the world. The Liberia IGF produces a report each year detailing the unique, regional priorities facing Liberian stakeholders in attendance. This report is fed into the global IGF to provide a Liberian perspective.

Now more than ever, cybersecurity and data privacy concerns underpin every aspect of our digital lives. The Liberia IGF brings together some of Liberia’s top thinkers to discuss how privacy and security intersect with artificial intelligence, smart cities, and Internet of Things (IoT), the impact on businesses, and the role youth can play in the evolution of the internet.
With the convergence of Liberia expertise across stakeholder groups, the Liberia IGF presents a unique opportunity to continue the national-level dialogue on internet policy issues.
We had approximately 200 attendees for the 2019 event, with representation across stakeholder groups. In particular, the Liberia IGF is conducting outreach with the intent to target groups of Liberian stakeholders that tackle these interconnected issues in various sectors.
The planning committee will be actively seeking to support the continued conversation in media online and off.
The outcome of this meeting will made into a report featuring a statement of priorities for Liberian businesses and end users who engage in internet governance domestically and abroad. The document will focus on finding common ground underpinned Liberia internet development and issues/values.
The report will also outline considerations for the Liberia IGF and mechanisms for ongoing collaboration of the Liberia internet community going forward.
